Purpose & Impact of Position: Maintain and promote readiness of mobile unit for patient and volunteer safety in clinics

Qualifications/Requirements:  Flexible hours depending upon availability

Volunteer Work Location(s): On-site at warehouse

Position Details:

• Most important for every position is treating each person with dignity, respect, and compassion
• Cleans mobile unit to prepare for next clinic, including:
  • Disinfecting surfaces, countertops, sinks, light switches, door/cabinet handles, BP cuffs, otoscopes, ophthalmoscopes, exam lights/tables, etc.
  • Sweeping and mopping floor and rugs shaken/vacuumed
  • Cleaning/disinfecting bathroom
  • Clean/dust microwave, refrigerators, electronics, mirrors, windowsills, chairs/stools, front door
  • Emptying garbage cans
  • Dusting brochure holders (do not use alcohol containing products) 
• Restocks items as needed on mobile unit, including the following:    
  • Paper towels, toilet paper, exam table paper
  • Hand sanitizer and soap dispensers
  • Printing paper and office supplies (pens, notepads, etc.)
  • Cleaning supplies, including garbage bags, paper towels, etc.
  • Otoscope specula in exam rooms 
  • Patient gowns/drapes in exam rooms 
  • Patient education materials
  • Other items on restock list prepared by office nurses 
• Monitors and maintains the following:
  • Sharps containers (replace when 2/3 full)
  • Triage totes (replenish items as necessary)
  • Expiration date of thin prep bottles (replace as necessary) 
  • Biohazardous waste in Exam Room 1 (dispose as necessary and replace with new red bag) 
  • AED testing (report any malfunction or expiration of battery and/or pads to Nurse Manager)
• At end of shift: 
  • Signs Volunteer Service Hours log and returns badge
  •  Makes a list of any needed supplies and gives to SMLC admin
