Purpose & Impact of Position: Ensure smooth operation of the Clinic site and coordinate volunteers as their first-line resource for assistance and workflow

Qualifications/Requirements: 

• 1+ days/month 9:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
• Basic computer skills
• Skills in organization, communication, and management

Location(s): On-site clinics (Athens, Crab Orchard, Decatur, Gatlinburg, Rutledge, Washburn) and remote as needed between clinics

Location of Needed Items: iPad in computer box

Position Details:

• Most important for every position is treating each person with dignity and respect and establishing a compassionate environment by providing emotional and spiritual support to patients, friends, and families as needed
• Builds rapport with each patient to help him/her feel comfortable coming to the clinic, while also respecting each patient’s time and that the clinic needs to maintain patient flow
• Maintains and ensures patient privacy
• Arrives before beginning of clinic for announcements and group prayer
• Upon arrival:
  • Helps unload clinic and set-up stations
• During clinic: 
  • Coordinates patient progress throughout appointments for smooth workflow
  • Communicates with all volunteers throughout clinic to answer questions, address needs (supplies, troubleshooting computer errors, etc.), and offer support for solid rapport among the team
• At end of shift: 
  • Help reorder partner site and reload clinic
  • Makes a list of any needed supplies and records any issues on the Site Manager’s notes and gives to Nurse Manager
  • Signs Volunteer Service Hours log and returns badge
• Between clinics:
  • Communicates with volunteers as needed
  • Recruits new volunteers when possible
  • During the week of the clinic, assists Nurse Manager with filling open volunteer positions as needed
  • If clinic is cancelled, notifies volunteers of cancellation

All St. Mary’s Legacy Clinic volunteers must complete the Volunteer Application, attend a Volunteer Orientation, and complete the Safe Environment training.
