Experience Healing and Hope at St. Mary’s Legacy Clinic
In honor of the World Day for the Sick
Celebrated on the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes
St. Mary’s Legacy Clinic is honored to offer special opportunities for our patients and their families during our February clinics. Please continue reading to learn more about the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick which will be available. Please also know that all regardless of your faith background or religion, are welcome to come for prayer for healing and a special blessing, independent from the Sacrament. We hope that all in need may find peace and courage in a time of difficulty through prayer, and we recognize the privilege that it is to accompany you at this time.
Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick
The Sacraments were instituted by Christ and given to the Church so that we can enter into Christ’s own life. They truly bring about what they signify! Because of this, we approach with great reverence, and while we hope every Christian may experience their fullness, they are generally reserved for those who are in full communion with the Catholic Church. Those with a desire for the Sacraments who are not Catholic, are Catholic but have been away from the Church, are encouraged to unite themselves in prayer and speak to a priest about the Sacraments. Please know as well that you are invited to receive a blessing from the priest and participate in prayer asking the Lord to unite your illness or suffering with that of Christ’s own.
Those who are Catholic and are either suffering from a serious illness or the heightened difficulties of old age, as well as those who are anticipating a surgery, are invited to the approach the Church’s Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick. In this Sacrament, Christ, through the ministry of the priest, touches the sick to heal them from sin and to strengthen them so that they can better unite their sufferings with His own for their own sanctification and that of others. And, if it be God’s will, physical healing is also bestowed in the Sacrament. We hope that those in need of healing are able to receive the God's gift of healing accompanied by peace and courage as they face the difficulties of illness or aging.
